Masala Republic

This flavour of "Masala Republic" Malayalam movie directed by Visakh G S, depends more on sarcasm and too much of anything has cause the loss here. However film has its moments as well, but in some it fails at the execution level.

Masala Republic is a fresh theme that got derailed because of a heavy screenplay. It has performances and some interesting sarcasm to keep you interested in the plot.

The basic premise of the movie is sound; that any such ban only helps engender illegal trade and increased ensubstance abuse.

It is dull, confused drama that tests the patience of sane viewers

Visakh appears confused about his own intentions as to whether he was doing a satire or sketch of realism. He doesn't make an attempt to realize it, rather slips into the easy mode of morphing his characters into animation mode,somehow discovering an end to a mess-filled plot.

I never thought the ban on Paan Masala could bring about such a catastrophe on the state. Honestly. I'm talking of a flick called 'Masala Republic' that is more injurious to your health than anything chewable out there.

Masala Republic is one of the tackiest films made in recent times.

മൗലികതയുണ്ട് കാലികതയുണ്ട് കട്ട് കോപ്പി അല്ലാത്തൊരു കഥയുമുണ്ട്. കണ്ടിരിക്കാന്‍ പറ്റുന്നവിധം ഒതുക്കം കൂടിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ സമീപകാലത്തെ മികച്ച സിനിമകളിലൊന്നായേനെ മസാല റിപ്പബ്ലിക്. 

There is widespread complaint about “small films” not getting theatres. But inane attempts like Masala Republic tends to wean away even the crowds who would support such experiments. All this film succeeds in is to nag you like a real bad dream!

ഈ പുതിയ മസാല അധികം പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ക്കും രുചിക്കാന്‍ സാധ്യതയില്ലെങ്കിലും, സിനിമ റിപബ്ലിക്കില്‍ ഇത് കാലങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം കള്‍ട്ട് ആകാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്.

'Masala Republic' tries too many things but its fundamentals are too flawed for it to prosper.

Overall, Masala Republic is a fresh theme that got derailed because of a heavy screenplay. It has performances and some interesting sarcasm to keep you interested in the plot. My impression on the movie is that it is an average product. Take a sip of this “fresh juice” if you are open to experiments. Rating is 2.5/5 for Masala Republic.
